After the offseason trade of former Phoenix Super LPG Fuelmasters Calvin Abueva to Chris Banchero of the Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok team, the Games and Amusements Board (GAB) reached out to Abueva through his new team manager, Mr. Alvin Patrimonio, to remind him that he still needs to be mindful of his compliance with the conditions set forth by the regulatory agency as part of the lifting of his suspension,” pahayag ni Mitra.
“Calvin is still under the six-month probation period. Even if he has transferred to a different team, as a professional athlete licensed by GAB, he still needs to honor what has been agreed upon and his commitment to the Board which was the basis of the reinstatement. He is a professional athlete and the youth look up to him. We expect him to set an example to the younger generation,” sambit ni Mitra.
“Aside from having completed the Professional Code of Conduct and Ethics seminar, his former Team Manager Paolo Bugia and Coach Topex Robinson have agreed to sign an undertaking that Calvin will be provided with the necessary support that he needs to cope with the demands warranted by his professional practice as an athlete, which has now been wilfully and voluntarily assumed by the Pambansang Manok leads, Hotshots Alvin Patrimonio and Coach Chito Victolero,” aniya.
“We hope that all other leagues shall be given the same support and approval to help all Filipino athletes and their families sustain their livelihood during these trying times. We would also like to call for solidarity and ask other sports leagues, whether professional or non-professional, to continually comply with the health and safety guidelines in order to avoid the possible transmission of COVID-19, as this fight is not only ours but of the entire sports community,” pahayag ng dating Palawan Governor at Congressman.
