Liao nahirang na PH volleyball team chair

NAHIRANG na chairman ng National Team Department si Tony Boy Liao, ng Philippine National Volleyball Federation Inc.(PNVFI).
Inatasan si Liao na tanggapin ang sensitibong posisyon ng bagong tatag na national sports association for volleyball matapos ang induction of officers nitong Miyerkules ni Philippine Olympic Committee president Rep. Abraham “Bambol”Tolentino sa Vault restaurant sa BGC sa Taguig Vity.
Sinabi ni PNVFI president Ramon “Tats” Suzara na pinili si Liao dahil sa kanyang karanasan at pagkakasangkot sa national team na nagwagi ng womens gold medal sa 1993 SEA Games sa Singapore.
“Mr. Liao was a former manager of the national team for many years,” Wika ni Suzara. “He also managed two of the most successful collegiate teams, De La Salle and Ateneo.
“He has vast experience in managing teams and players and is highly-versed on volleyball rules,” dagdag pa nya.
Si Liao ay kasalukuyang nasa US pero sumali sa unang board meeting ng PNVFI — tatlong araw matapos makuha ang rekognasyon ng International Volleyball Federation -online.
“It’s a privilege to head the department and I know that the task is challenging but I promise to do my best,” Wika ng 64-year old Liao.
“I will immediately form my team and discuss the criteria of selection of the players and coaching staff,” Dagdag ni Liao, na kinuha si Ormoc City member Richard Gomez, na dating national team member, na maging secretary.
