We can call him a seven-time Formula 1 champion, fashion icon, international playboy, human rights activist and after being bestowed with knighthood we can officially call him Sir Lewis.
Pero matapos ibunyag ng kanyang dating engineer sa Mercedes ang isa sa dahilan kung bakit successful ang F1 career ni Lewis, puwede na rin natin siyang tawaging Agent 44: Super Spy.
Agent 44, of course, is a nod to his car number. Ang Super Spy label naman ay ang ibinabansag ngayon kay Lewis matapos ma-interview si Philipp Brandle na isa sa engineers ng Mercedes na naka-assign sa sasakyan ni Lewis until 2019.
Ayon kay Brandle, malaking bagay sa Mercedes ang insight na ibinibigay ni Lewis particular na sa mga nakikita niyang innovations sa mga kalabang sasakyan.
“Lewis is a super spy. He looks at everything very closely,” ani Brandle sa kanyang interview during the Bahrain Grand Prix na pinanalunan ni Lewis.
Walang masama sa ginagawa ni Lewis dahil allowed naman ang mga drivers na tingnan ang sasakyan ng kanilang mga katunggali. Gawain din ito ni four-time champion Sebastian Vettel.
Nagbigay ng isang pagkakataon si Brandle kung saan nagamit nila sa Mercedes ang tip na ibinigay ni Lewis.
“For example, there was once a moment prior to the podium room where the drivers were having a drink. He noticed that another racing suit had fewer cables. The point was that you can save weight, because really every detail counts in Formula 1,” kuwento ni Brandle.
“So he gave us the feedback that the other team had a shorter wiring harness, and a smaller plug. And really everything, how you can somehow save just one gram, is important. He looks at details like that, and that’s what we implemented.”
Base sa resulta sa Bahrain Grand Prix ay mukhang magiging mahigpit ang laban nina Lewis at Red Bull ace Max Verstappen.
Mukhang lamang ngayon sa bilis ang Red Bull kumpara sa Mercedes kaya puwedeng magamit ni Lewis ang kanyang talento sa pag-eespiya para malaman ang sikreto ng kaniyang karibal.
It will be the longest season in F1 history with 23 races so maraming pagkakataon si Lewis to play James Bond for his team.
