NANINIWALA ang management company ng UFC star na si Conor McGregor na lumabag si Senador Manny Pacquiao sa kanyang kontrata sa pagpayag na lumaban kay Errol Spence sa Agosto.
Binasura ni Pacquiao ang demanda na isinampa ng manager ni McGregor.
Si Pacquiao ay nakatakdang lumaban kay Spence sa Las Vegas sa Agosto, pero inakusahan ni Audie Attar, ang nagpapatakbo sa Paradigm Sports at nagre-represent kay McGregor, ang Filipino eight-division champion sa paglabag sa kanyang kontrata.
Humihirit si Attar ng $3.3million advance at pinipigilan si Pacquiao sa laban kay Spence.
Pero sa isang statement, rumesbak si Pacquiao, iginiit na: “Paradigm Sports’ lawsuit against me has no merit. I have an absolute right under the agreement with Paradigm to engage in the upcoming bout with Errol Spence.
“If this frivolous lawsuit continues, I will be proven correct in court.”
Sa demanda na isinampa sa California, sinasabi ni Attar na nakikipagnegosasyon siya kay Pacquiao para sa laban kay four-division champion Mikey Garcia.
Isinaad ng Paradigm lawyer na si Judd Burstein: “In addition to the millions of dollars in straightforward economic loss that Paradigm stands to suffer, the damage to its reputation resulting from Pacquiao’s breaches is incalculable.
“Just when Paradigm was at the cusp of establishing itself as a major player in professional boxing, Pacquiao has left its reputation as a boxing representative in tatters.”
Ang Pacquiao-Garcia fight ay matagal nang niluluto at ang deal ay malapit nang mangyari noong nakaraang summer bago pumutok ang pandemya.
Nakipag-negosasyon din si Pacquiao para sa isang mega-fight sa pagitan nila ni McGreggor pero hindi natuloy nang ma-knockout ang huli sa UFC fight kay Dustin Poirier nitong kaagahan ng taon.
Iginigiit ni Attar na sa demanda na si Pacquiao ay hindi puwedeng lumaban uli para sa Premier Boxing Champions maliban kung si Floyd Mayweather Jr. ang kalaban.
Sina Pacquiao at Paradigm ay nagsama noong February 2020, saad sa demanda, at pinag-usapan ang four-fight deal sa DAZN na magsisimula sa laban kay Garcia.
Sabi ng abogado ni Pacquiao na si Dale Kinsella: “The complaint filed by Paradigm Sports in California state court on Friday is a frivolous effort to interfere with Manny Pacquiao’s upcoming mega fight, and it can and will fail for numerous reasons.
“Moreover, had Manny Pacquiao known that Paradigm Sports appears to have had no intention of fulfilling its contractual obligations, he never would have entered into any relationship with them.
“Should this matter actually proceed beyond Friday’s filing in a court of law, Mr. Pacquiao will vigorously defend this action, assert his own claims against Paradigm Sports, and seek to recover his attorney’s fees as well.”
