TINANGHAL na NBA Defensive Player of the Year si Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert sa ikatlong pagkakataon.
Si Gobert ang ika-apat na player sa NBA na nanalo bilang itinuturing na top defender ng liga ng tatlong beses.
Una nang napanalunan din ni Gobert ang award noong taong 2018 at 2019.
Batay sa kasaysayan ng NBA ang iba pang pinakatanging NBA greats na tinanghal din ng tatlong beses o higit pa bilang Defensive Player of the Year ay sina Dikembe Mutombo, Ben Wallace at Dwight Howard.
Sina Mutombo at Wallace ay may tig-apat na award habang si Howard ay tatlo.
“It’s unbelievable,” ani Gobert. “It’s hard to put into words the things that you can achieve when you just enjoy what you do, first of all and when you have a group of people that believes in you and you put the work in every single day…. it’s just amazing.”
Samantala, ang Philadelphia 76ers guard na si Ben Simmons ang pumangalawa kay Gobert, si Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green ay pumangatlo habang si Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo ay pumuwesto sa ika-apat.
