NILAGDAAN ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ang panibagong kasunduan sa pagitan ng pamahalaan at private consortium para sa Service Contract No. 38. Na may kaugnayan sa Malampaya Deep Water Gas-to-Power Project.
Sa signing ceremony sa Malacañang, binigyang-diin ni PBBM ang kahalagahan ng kasunduan para sa patuloy na operasyon ng Malampaya gas field.
Aniya, sa ganitong paraan ay mababawasan ang pagdepende ng bansa sa oil imports sa mga darating na taon.
“As we renew Service Contract (SC) 38, we optimistically look forward to the continued production and utilization of the remaining reserves of the Malampaya gas field, as well as further exploration and development of its untapped potential,” wika ng Presidente.
Kasabay nito, sinabi ng Pangulo na bahagi ito ng pagpapatuloy ng paggalugad, pagpapaunlad, at paggamit ng pamahalaan sa mga lokal na mapagkukunan ng enerhiya ng bansa.
“As I sign this SC 38 renewal agreement, we also lay stress on the Administration’s commitment to actively pursue the exploration, development, and utilization of the country’s indigenous energy resources, and to optimize our energy mix,” sabi pa ni PBBM.
Kasabay nito, inatasan ng Pangulo ang Department of Energy (DOE) na i-monitor at pamahalaang mabuti ang implementasyon ng proyekto at tiyaking naaabot ang mga layunin ng consortium para sa interes ng bansa.
Maliban kay PBBM, present din sa event sina Speaker Martin Romualdez, Senator Raffy Tulfo, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Juan Ponce Enrile, Presidential Communications Secretary Cheloy Velicaria-Garafil, Defense Officer-in-Charge Undersecretary Carlito Galvez Jr., Prime Infra Chairman Enrique Razon, at Philippine National Oil Company – Exploration Corporation President at CEO Franz Josef George Alvarez.
